Despite the early morning drizzle, it looked like the turn out for the aria park protest was going to be good. It was only a fortnight since Barzillai Thrune had been appointed mayor, yet Kintargo was a different place. Seemingly senseless proclamations from Barzillai had been regularly issued since and Kintargo was never a city to take things lying down. Even worse was the political underground movement of the Silver Ravens had been silent since the night of Ashes, a series of fires across the town a week ago. Rumours had it several other organisations had gone very quiet too. It all seemed a bit too coincidental for Erik and so he was heading to the protest to see if he could find out more, well that and the opportunity to find some more clients for his alchemical wares.
Offering his wineskin around Erik Jhaltero was soon making friends everywhere, people were talking freely and emotions were starting to run high. Higher than they should have perhaps, although Erik was fairly sure that wasn’t to do with the small amount of alchemical mixing he had done with the wine. Fairly sure not totally sure. After about 3 hours the window on the opera house opened and there stood Barzillai Thrune. After a short, condescending speech the next proclamation was announced and then the riot started.
A thrown piece of manure sailed through the air and hit the mayor, spilling his wine on his robes. Chaos ensued, with individuals drawing sticks from their robes and moving through the crowd. These people had come looking for trouble. The mayor’s bodyguard, Nox, quickly stepped back inside as a dagger flew from the crowd towards her. The wound healing as she retreated. As Erik tried to keep himself out of trouble he noticed several of his friends engaged in with the rioters, Terhil seemed to be handling himself well, disarming anyone who approached him, but Percy and Pellius weren’t doing so well. Percy having drawn his rapier was engaged in a battle with one of the rioters.
Then a couple of the guard stepped in. Within seconds Terhil was down and they were moving towards the other two. Percy stepped up and with a flash of colour one of the guards fell to the ground. In the mean time Pellius had stabbed his opponent, who was now lying bleeding on the ground, and had moved nearer to Percy. Stuffing a rose petal up Terhil’s nose and muttering something Erik helped Terhil to his feet, he looked a lot better now.
The pair of them worked through the crowd to help their friends when the door to the opera opened again. This time a flaming hound appeared and roared. Panic erupted in the crowd. Frantically looking around Erik saw the Pellius was down and Terhil engaged with the guard. Calling upon his god a wave of healing spread around Erik before he joined the fleeing crowd.
Moments later away from the park he took a breath. Percy and Terhil arrived later but there was no sign of Pellius. What to do now??
